Los cuadernos de campo digitales en dispositivos móviles/ Digital field notebooks on mobile devices

 

Los sistemas digitales de recogida de información están ya consolidados como práctica habitual en el terreno. Son, en realidad, la alternativa natural al tradicional cuaderno de campo. Siempre nos quedará el recuerdo y la afinidad por utilizar el papel y los lápices para escribir observaciones y hacer croquis y dibujos a mano alzada, pero la versatilidad y facilidad que proporcionan estas nuevas herramientas digitales hacen ya de las notas manuscritos un recuerdo romántico del pasado.

Sin embargo, la cantidad de aplicaciones de libre acceso que existen ahora en las plataformas de aplicaciones para dispositivos móviles pueden hacer que veamos más las hojas o las ramas que el árbol. No todas estas herramientas son iguales y hacen las mismas cosas, se trata de saber elegir entre las más apropiadas teniendo en cuenta nuestras necesidades de recogida de la materia prima, según las características del proyecto.

Rafael Belda, nos ha presentado en su charla “Del campo a lacazuela”, precisamente, un análisis comparativo entre tres de estas aplicaciones: KoboToolbox, QFIEL y Oruxmaps. Ha insistido en los planteamientos de la recogida y almacenamiento de la información que hace cada una de ellas y de la necesidad de conocer bien los requerimientos del proyecto para poder seleccionar la más idónea.

Digital information collection systems are already established in standard practice for information collection in the field. They are, in fact, the natural alternative to the traditional field notebook. We will always have the memory and affinity for using paper and pencils to make observations, sketches and freehand drawings, but the versatility and ease provided by these new digital tools already make handwritten notes a romantic memory of the past. However, the number of applications that now exist freely accessible on application platforms for mobile devices can make us see more of the leaves or branches than the tree.

Not all these tools are the same and do the same things, it is a matter of knowing how to choose between the most appropriate taking into account our needs for collecting raw materials, according to the characteristics of the project.

Rafael Belda, has presented us in his talk "From the field to the casserole", precisely, a comparative analysis between three of these applications: KoboToolbox, QFIEL and Oruxmaps. He has insisted on the approaches to the collection and storage of the information made by each of them and the need to know the requirements of the project well in order to select the most suitable one.
